about

The Soap Plant was a store on the uber fashionable Melrose in the hipster 1980s. The "job upstairs" was working in the La Luz de Jesus Gallery where gallery director Billy Shire launched the entire Low Brown art scene in Los Angeles - including people like SHAG and Mark Ryden, among others...
You can still visit the Soap Plant and La Luz in their revised location in East Hollywood. And it's still a hipster hangout.

lyrics

Yer So Cul
by Cary Stratton and Mary-Margaret Stratton

You look however you want to
You go where nobody dares
You hangin' out at the soap plant
You got the job upstairs.

You're so cool
You don't like nothing new
You're so cool
I can't get next to you.

You got the blue and the black on
You don't go out to be seen
Lou Reed ain't got nothing on you
Your attitude's so mean.

You're so cool
You don't like nothing new
You're so cool
I can't get next to you.

BRIDGE:
You don't owe nobody
You don't need a thing
You don't want nobody
Your telephone doesn't ring.

Don't follow the fashion
You got your own kinda style
From button to the soul now
Your hair is perfectly wild.

You're so cool
You don't like a nothing new
You're so cool
I can't get enough of you.

You're so cool
You don't like nothing new
You're so cool
