When Heroes Fall

Kangaroo Court. This has nothing to do with guilt or innocence. It is about due process. OJ's case was no different than the media's current treatment of Donald Trump. People in the press are judged long before proper evidence has been submitted based on previous bias.
(Chuck Henry was a tv news personality in Los Angeles back in 1994)

lyrics

When Heroes Fall
by Cary and Mary-Margaret Stratton

The day OJ took LA
It was the story of the day
the crowds all gathered on the overpass
He lost a wife to the knife
Said that he would rather die
And all that I could do was laugh

I switched from channel 12 to 4
Don't know what I was looking for
A closer look or just another view
The traffic stopped, they waved him on
He didn't see them, he was gone
But here in my room I saw and I knew

CHORUS:
When heroes fall
From eight miles wide to tv tall
When heroes fall
No one can read the writing on the wall
Doesn't matter what's been said or done
Their feet of clay will always bring them down
When heroes fall
It reflects on us all

Took a drive and looked away
Blvd. opened another cafe
Losers looking out to be seen
Fascinated by the mundane
the rich and famous and their shame
Getting news from People magazine

CHORUS:
When heroes fall
From eight miles wide to tv tall
When heroes fall
No one can read the writing on the wall
Doesn't matter what's been said or done
Their feet of clay will always bring them down
When heroes fall
It reflects on us all

BRIDGE:
I saw the whole thing flash before me
I knew the angle of the story
We take our rage out of those who
dare to stand and flaunt their good.
Journalism made their case
Pronounced guilty by his face
They say you still can't turn your back
when the dark prince dresses black.

Media set up their crews
satellite to check stand news
Would the judge try or dismiss?
legal sleazes dodge and lie
When Chuck Henry's standing by
What kind of life revolves around this?
What kind of life revolves around this?

CHORUS:
When heroes fall
From eight miles wide to tv tall
When heroes fall
No one can read the writing on the wall
Doesn't matter what's been said or done
Their feet of clay will always bring them down
When heroes fall
It reflects on us all

The months went by
I got so bored
On every station
Ratings soared
Couldn't turn the dial without some news
And people talked of tragedies
In their own lives he set them free
Why can't we speak the truth without the dues?

CHORUS:
When heroes fall
From eight miles wide to tv tall
When heroes fall
No one can read the writing on the wall
Doesn't matter what's been said or done
Their feet of clay will always bring them down
When heroes fall
It reflects on us all
